Do you remember the first day of school? You started crying because you didn’t know what to expect and what to do. You had never been away from home and being away from your parents gave you immense anxiety. But then you made a lot of friends; friends who are still there for you even today.
Do you remember your first date with your Boo? You were nervous, constantly checking yourself out in the mirror, making sure you looked perfect. Now you send them selfies right after waking up and they know your most embarrassing secrets. First times are nerve-wracking because we fear the unknown. If it’s your first time going for a scalp micropigmentation session, here’s what you need to know: It’s Not Painful Understandably, one of the biggest concerns people have is whether scalp micropigmentation is a painful procedure. This misconception stems from the fact that SMP is similar to tattooing and microneedling. But it’s not. The procedure, the needle used, and the pigments are all different from tattoos. The practitioner will use a numbing agent to make sure the client does not feel any discomfort during the procedure. However, most people report the pain level to be 2 or 1 out of 10. The needle and pigmentation has been created specifically for SMP. It’s Useful for Hair Thinning and Hair Loss Scalp micropigmentation is perfect for those individuals who struggle with hair loss, hair thinning, and conditions like alopecia. Your practitioner will first take into account your medical history. There are myriad of reasons for hair loss. Sometimes it’s medical conditions, genetics, or stress and lifestyle choices. Your practitioner will first get to the bottom of the cause and then create a plan accordingly. You will also need to go to your GP to figure out if you qualify for the procedure. Some conditions—such as heart disease—can be dangerous for patients who want to get the procedure done. You will need to provide a note from your GP stating that you are perfectly able and can get the treatment done. Quick Recovery Time The best thing about SMP is that there’s a quick recovery time. It usually takes the scalp a week to heal. However, during this time, you should make sure to avoid it getting wet. You will need to use a shower cap to avoid getting water on it. You will also need to stop going to the gym for a few days. This is because you will need to avoid excessive sweating. You will be given a topical cream by the practitioner that you will need to use. There will be slight bruising during this time but nothing painful. The redness will go away within two to three days. Furthermore, avoid shampoos and creams that can irritate your scalp. Your practitioner will give you a list of things you will need to avoid. Miss T’s Aesthetics is a certified SMP practitioner with years of experience.
